The Newbury Commitment

We believe in the enormous potential of each child and will help your son or daughter cultivate the confidence, skills and work ethic required to achieve it.

We believe in providing a balance of self-directed, play-based learning and teacher-guided activities and experiences.

We believe that healthy relationships among children, teachers and families play a critical role in intellectual growth.

The Newbury School was established in [2001]. Its founder, in going through the school selection process with her own children, could envision but not find a school that offered everything she valued. This experience motivated her to create a new kind of school from the ground up. Today, the Newbury School combines a positive educational experience in a secure and loving environment with the intellectual foundation necessary for the highest levels of academic achievement. In merging these attributes, she created a school that is truly among the best of the best.

The Newbury experience

Perhaps our most important mission at Newbury is to provide young children with a positive first exposure to school. Only when children experience learning as something exciting, fun and stimulating can they achieve their full potential. Watch our students race happily into the classroom each day, and you’ll know this is a job we take seriously.

The Newbury staff

Teachers selected by Newbury must pass rigorous screening processes and meet our extremely high standards for teaching excellence and professional dedication. Unlike most preschools, our teaching staff is led by a full-time director of education who is responsible for providing day-to-day support and curricular direction to our teachers. All Newbury lead teachers have either a four-year degree or are certified in early childhood education.

rule

"Because Newbury is NOT a chain, it allows for personal attention to both the children and the parents. It's nice to be greeted by the same staff members on a daily basis, who not only know your child but also the parent or other family members. More importantly, Betty is always an email or phone call away. The staff is always open to both positive and negative feedback." - M.W.

The Newbury curriculum

Newbury has established an excellent, standardized and research-proven curriculum that is age-appropriate to children enrolled in our programs. At every level, our curriculum is designed to build lifelong academic skills through exploratory learning, engaging children in ways that are both challenging and fun.

Our preschool classes use the highly regarded Saxon Publishers
Early Childhood curriculum.

Weekly lesson plans are prepared in all classrooms from toddlers through pre-kindergarten. Monthly newsletters are available to all families, and progress reports are distributed twice each year, enabling parents to track each child’s development.
